App Review: IM+ (Plus)

July 4, 2011 1 Comment

IM+ (plus) came to us at a time when us Windows Phone users were in dire need of an Instant Messeging app for WP7. The few we had were very buggy and not very useful. Even the mighty Flory that we touted as the IM app so save us all – failed us horribly. \

IM+ has tons of IM services you can connect to like

  • Yahoo!®
  • GTalk™
  • AIM®
  • MySpace™
  • Jabber
  • ICQ®
  • Facebook®
  • Skype

The app itself is great! you have all your IM buddies on the same list with just the icon differentiating from what dervice they are from. IM+ works perfectly to message friends and have full convo’s without a hiccup. The problems begin when you exit the app –  since it disconnects you from all the services. When you go back in the app it has to reconnect you to everything all over again (which takes 45 seconds to a minute). So maintaining a long conversation through IM+ can be brutal, it even shows you as offline when you exit so friends won’t message you when you are not in the app. So technically by using this app you end up messaging some friends and not hearing back from them due to you exiting the app by mistake, phone call, text or anything else that might make you exit the application.

IM+ is a good app but has too many shortcomings and way to slow even if the price has been bumped down to $5. I can only recomend this app to folks who can’t live without instant messagning for a few more months and can deal with the lack of speed.

App Info:
Chat in Yahoo!®, GTalk™, AIM®, MySpace™, Jabber, ICQ®, Facebook® and Skype on the go. No more SMS charges!

The wide variety of online messenger clients out there often means that no single one works for all of your contacts. They may be spread out among Google Talk, Facebook, Skype, Yahoo etc. To keep in touch, you have to spread yourself out across all of those platforms too. But this limits your availability to whichever service you’re checking in with at the moment–and the people who use that one.

If you’ve been frustrated with jumping around like that, IM+ All-in-One Messenger gives you a way to do all of your messaging from one place in easy and intuitive way.
