Rumor: Samsung Will Stop Supporting Windows Phone by 2013

September 12, 2011 No Comments

There is a huge rumor making its rounds around the Internet lately. First time I heard it – I dismissed it because it sounded to absurd but then after sometime, I realized it made some sense. Samsung will stop making Windows Phones after the end of 2012. The rumor in question was started by non other than SamFirmware:

SamFirmware’s words do hold some legitimacy since they do have the inside scoop on everything Samsung. Also, with all the battling in court they have had to do with Apple because of Android OS – it gives you reason to believe that they will just stop everything and focus on their own bada OS. The rumor sounds solid enough, so why don’t I buy it? Well, I just don’t think Microsoft will allow it to happen. Samsung was a very important part of Android’s growth and Windows Phone needs as many manufacturers in their corner as humanly possible. Besides, Samsung and Microsoft have a great working relationship that has them partnering up on many projects. Samsung is already one of the first in line to support Windows 8 on tablets. There is even a stronger rumor that they will be giving out Samsung branded Windows 8 tablets this week at the BUILD conferences.

So for now I am calling this rumor false until we get more to go on.
