Windows Phone ‘Tango’ Focus is “Hitting the Lower-Price Point For Windows Phone”

You might have heard of the ‘Tango’ update, which is said to be the update that will be the Mango updates successor. There isn’t much information available yet regarding Tango but CNet’s Mary Jo Foley found out just a little bit to tide us over until Microsoft begins making official announcements about ‘Tango’.

An anonymous contact spoke with Ms. Foley and divulged that there might be two Tango releases coming before the next major Windows Phone update in 2012, Apollo. The source added that Tango was “all about Nokia” and that it was going to be focused on bringing the lower priced devices for Windows Phone, which many have been waiting for. Though the contact did say that the release of Tango would mainly be focused on the Asian Market, maybe even exclusively.

I have to admit that it is disappointing to know that Microsoft might be planning to bring cheaper devices to one region only. They have to appeal to people everywhere and with all kinds of budgets. That’s how Windows Phone will get more exposure.
