Augmented Reality Licensing Agreement Signed by MicrosoftJuly 13, 2011 No Comments
Mobile Augmented reality, a concept by the GeoVector corp. that allows you to use your mobile device to explore the things around you by using your phone’s camera has been licensed by Microsoft. The main way that this technology is being used is through the pointing option which lets you point your phone at an object in order to obtain specific information about it, and also the directional option which lets you point your phone in a certain direction in order to find the businesses that are located in that immediate area.
Augmented reality is not a new concept to the mobile market, in fact there are already existing applications for the iPhone and Android markets.
Let’s see how long it takes for this technology to make it to Windows Phone. Though I think the real question is what will Microsoft do with it to differentiate it on Windows Phone.
