Zune HD Gets Firmware Update

July 8, 2011 No Comments

Many Zune owners must feel as though with the release of Windows Phone 7, Microsoft has forgotten them. Microsoft has proven that they still have them in mind this week with the release of a firmware update.

Zune firmware version 4.5 (114) is to patch fraudulent SSL cerifificates issued by certification authority Comodo. These certificates affect the following Web properties:

• login.live.com

• mail.google.com

• login.yahoo.com (3 certificates)

• login.skype.com

• addons.mozilla.org

• “Global Trustee”

These certificates have been revoked and are now listed in Comodo’s current Certificate Revocation List.

In addition to the firmware update, Microsoft has also released nine new applications for Zune. Always good to see a company giving long term support for their products.
