Windows Phone 7 Security Update Being Pushed Out

May 3, 2011 No Comments

Microsoft has begun the distribution of a new update (7932) aimed at protecting its’ users from fraudulent SSL certificates issued by certification authority Comodo. We had an article discussing the the issue a few weeks ago where we stated that the issue is not only a WP7 issue but an issue for any device with an internet connection.

We were speculating that this would be the first OTA update and unfortunately that is not the case. In the FAQ’s section of the security advisory Microsoft states that customers will receive notification of the update on their phones but will have to connect the device to the computer and use Zune or Windows Phone Connector 7 in order to complete the update process.

For those still waiting for NoDo, if you get your notification you should receive all updates that have been released on WP7 as Windows Phone updates are cumulative.
