HTC Update Took Some Users Back to the Sega Genesis Days

April 8, 2011 No Comments

Recently there was a firmware update for HTC phones. For most updates always means something good but there are always an unlucky few that experience issues. As is the case with the HTC update. While some are reporting to see an improvement in their phones performance some are experiencing a change in their picture quality.

Apparently the issue arrises for those running firmwares FW 2250.09.11001 and FW 2250.09.12000. Images that should have a nice gradual change will show noticeable shifts in color casuing the image to appear rough and a bit distorted. Instead it looks like a 16 bit image (think Sonic The Hedgehog for Sega Genesis) when it should be at 24 bits.

The update hasn’t come up for me on my Zune software but it looks like I won’t be updating either way, not until we know what is going on and if they intend to fix it.
