Creative Ways to Use Metro UI (Developers)

March 26, 2011 1 Comment

There are some beautifully designed apps on the WP7 Marketplace. Some use the Metro UI to it’s benefit to create interesting and visually pleasing application. There are TONS though that don’t use the UI to its full potential. The Windows Phone Team recently published an article showing off the UI and trying to show Developers the many creative ways they can use Microsoft’s unique user interface.

Woodgrove_Bank_Pano

‘The imaginary app “Woodgrove Bank” aside of showing you typical bank related information uses the panoramic control as a timeline to check your daily expenses with your ups and downs in a graph that leverages the extended horizontal canvas.’

Blue_Yonder_pano

‘In the “Blue Yonder Airlines” imaginary app the extended canvas is used as a guide to find yourself around at the airport of your destination. The section for the seat map uses the vertical scroll to find and check your seat.’

I think it is really smart on their side to keep pushing the envelope and trying to get devs to be more creative and imaginative. The things devs can do with this UI is amazing. Check out the futuristic video of how the Metro UI could be used. I really hope I am still alive and breathing to see some of this cool tech.
