Developers: No New 3rd Party Twitter Apps?

March 12, 2011 No Comments

I can’t say that I am shocked with the recent bugs found on some Twitter 3rd party apps. Twitter has chosen to tighten up the eco-system and hold devs to higher standards.

‘He goes on to say that existing apps will continue to function, but that the bar will be raised in terms of quality and consistency. Specifically, he cites differences across apps in terminology for core functions like @-replying and trending topics as confusing to users and at the root of the change. ‘

Twitters Ryan Sarver also goes on to say that they don’t want apps and services that just mimic the basic use and experience of Twitter. In fact they wants devs to build applications and companies that build on what Twitter offers and make it their own.

Our future choices for Twitter clients has now shrunk considerably
