Confirmed: ‘Mango’ Update to Arrive Later This Year

February 14, 2011 No Comments

What a MWC it has been! Over the weekend we had news of the Nokia and Microsoft partnership. Today? We have confirmation of the exciting codename 'Mango' update. Better yet, it is set to arrive later on this year. It will brings many key features to the Windows Phone 7 platform.

  • Twitter integration directly into the People Hub
  • Support for Office documents in the cloud (Skydrive Docs), going beyond the current OneNote integration
  • A “new wave of multitasking applications” (third-party applications get multitasking support)
  • Enhanced Web browser experience (IE Mobile 9)

This is definitely the road we need to get on to get really serious in the smartphone race. Also, Joe Belfiore showed off a demo of an early version of “Mango” and the Windows Phone 7 IE 9 code on the phone includes the same core IE 9 code that runs on the PC. Meaning apps and sites designed for IE 9 should run automatically on WP7.

Windows Phone 7 users have alot to be excited about.
