Nom Nom Worm Game Review

When I was told I would be reviewing a game called Nom Nom Worm I had no idea what to expect. Let’s be honest that name tells you nothing about the game. Well turns out it’s a game reminiscent of one of the early cell phone games. This game seriously reminded me of snake (might not be the right name) , you remember the game where you began by navigating a small line around to touch a square and then it got bigger and bigger and the objective was to prevent the snake from ever touching itself (haha that sounds funny). Well in Nom Nom Worm you are a worm and your objective is to accumulate points by eating as much food as possible all the while avoiding the circular enemies making rounds. If you get too close to the enemies they sprout fangs and try to eat you (twilight gone bad?).

Nom Nom Worm utilizes tilt control so there are no buttons to press, all you need is the ability to tilt your hands forward and backward. I’ll be the first to admit this is a simple game, but I also think that a lot of the simpler games make for some of the better mobile games. This game in all it’s wormy glory is entertaining to say the least. It provides you with a clear objective and you will want to keep coming back to play because you always want to beat your highest score. The music in the game reminded me of old arcade games so depending on who you are it may or may not be a good thing. I do have two issues with this game though. The first is that there is no pause option, the only way out in the middle of the game is to exit. If you do exit your progress for your last game is lost and you have to start a new game. Not good. My second issue is that I don’t think the tilt is sensitive enough. The game is fine if I have to tilt towards me but to tilt away at such angle leaves me unable to see the screen properly. Overall though this game was very enjoyable, it is a gem in its’ simplicity. It is a game that is perfect for anyone (my kids love it too) and a game that exemplifies what a mobile game should be.

Oh by the way I looked it up and the game was called Snake. Go me!
