Poll Results are in: Users Prefer Windows Tablets Running Windows 7

January 30, 2011 3 Comments

So our readers prefer a Windows tablet to run full Windows 7 instead of one running the Windows Phone 7 OS (but not by much). 52% of you went along with Windows 7, 45% said they wanted Microsoft’s Phone OS. This goes along with my thoughts that Microsoft should make both of them available. Let’s hope they change their stand on the subject and decide to add our favorite OS to the Windows tablet family.

WP7 isn’t coming to tablets; Microsoft has already explicitly stated that W7 will be their tablet OS.

WP7 was designed specifically for smartphones in more ways than one – even if you got it running on a tablet, there is no support for tablet screen resolutions.

While it would be nice if the OS supported tablet screen resolutions, it makes things much easier for developers and prevents the fragmenting issue that android has been criticized for.

I think it would be cool to see WP7 running on a tablet, but at the moment it’s probably not going to happen. (maybe in 480×800, or whatever the wp7 resolution is)

Yeah I know Microsoft said that they wouldn’t.
I agree with you in the fact that I know the Windows Phone 7 OS will not be featuring in a tablet any time soon. But with the state of how the tablet market is right now, I think there’s tons of people that would prefer a mobile-like OS. I would hate to think that a company like Microsoft wouldn’t be atleast tinkering with the idea of creating a Windows Phone LIKE tablet.

Me personally? I am very close to pre-ordering the new Asus EP121 tablet running full Windows 7. :)
