Kik Messenger coming to WP7 soon

January 6, 2011 No Comments

Today via their blog, KIK messenger announced that a WP7 app will be coming soon. For those of you who don't know about kik messenger, it is pretty much the equivalent to Blackberry messenger except for the fact that you can use it cross-platform. That added with the fact that they have just announced their 3 millionth user.

It is a very welcome addition to Windows Phone.

I would also like to let you know about another major milestone for our Kik community! We have started 2011 on a high note as we added our 3 millionth user. The community continues to grow steadily by 10-15 000 people per day. Couple this with the fact that we will continue to add great new features (how ’bout them profile pics!) and I guarantee you, wonderful Kiksters, that you will have an even more killer app :)

Equally exciting, if not most exciting, is that we are soon to release an app for Windows Phone 7! A guy here named Mike spearheaded (I use that in the most literal sense) the WP7 development, in the beginning without even the aid of the phone! Pretty impressive, if you ask me. I’m so happy that I can provide an app to those people with WP7 who asked for it!

I have been receiving a few question from the WP7 community about the lack of messengers on the platform. I would say that at this point that the absence of messengers is my biggest gripe (even though there aren't many ).This app is much needed and I for one can't wait to install it on my Windows Phone.
