It looks like our first Windows Phone update will be ready very soon and might be rolling out to customers early February. This first update is set to include (the long awaited for) copy & paste feature. On Paul Thurrotts' blog he writes…

This update will include the famed copy and paste functional addition, support for the Qualcomm 7×30 smart phone chipset, a CDMA location stack, and a number of software fixes.

He also goes on in detail about what the first "major" update will entail (Codenamed: Mango)..The addition of IE9, HTML5 and Silverlight…

this will add Internet Explorer 9 with with the Trident 5 rendering engine, HTML 5 and Silverlight, and gesture support.

Can't wait to hear what else Microsoft has planned for us tomorrow at their CES press event.
