Already 5,000+ Votes to Keep Microsoft’s New Personal Assistant Named ‘Cortana’ (Update: Now 22,000+ Votes)

September 13, 2013 No Comments

Yesterday it was revealed that Microsoft was working on a Personal Assistant for Windows Phone that is supposed to blow Siri away. The huge news however is that Microsoft codenamed this project ‘Cortana‘. Microsoft, Windows Phone and Halo fans rejoiced as we mull over the possibility of having a Personal Assistant named Cortana on our Windows Phones. Why? Because in the gaming world, she is pretty much the ‘Personal Assistant’ to Master Chief which is behind Microsoft’s/Xbox’s biggest franchise, Halo.

Now fans are hoping that not only the name stays the same even after it launches but also that her voice and character are also embedded into our Windows Phones.

Actually, fans are doing way more than hope, they are voting and hoping to get Microsoft’s attention. On UserVoice, there are already over 5,000 votes to keep the name ‘Cortana’.

Here is what some fans have to say:

  • Matt Rainbolt – Microsoft would do well to listen to this poll. Cortana is a character that is very well received and could literally serve as the face for several of its products and help reduce a lot of the negative perception people have about its brands.
  • Florin – Seeing the reactions around the world, CORTANA should really be the name of the assistant.Think about all those people who would buy a Windows Phone just because of that. It’s an awesome marketing strategy.
Please Microsoft, listen to your fans!!!!!!!
  • Anonymous – They should definitely keep the name Cortana and use the real voice from the games. I had a guy at work who is a hardcore android user say he would switch to Windows Phone if it was called Cortana and had her voice.

If you feel like I do and the 5,000 WP, Halo fans (so far), than vote here and let your voice be heard.

Update: Now 13,000+ votes to keep the Cortana name and counting!

Update 2: Now 22,000+ votes
