AT&T STREET CHARGE STATIONS ROLL INTO LOWER MANHATTAN
Collaboration with the Downtown Alliance and NYC Parks Department Brings Solar Mobile Charging to Bowling Green and Coenties Slip Plaza Providing Visitors a Free Charge
New York, N.Y. Sept. 3, 2013 – On Wednesday September 4th, at 11am,
AT&T Street Charge will unveil several mobile charging units at well-traversed areas in Lower Manhattan, as part of AT&T’s ongoing Street Charge initiative.
Starting on Wednesday, Bowling Green and Coenties Slip Plaza will be the latest locations across the five boroughs where New Yorkers cantake advantage of solar mobile charging stations for all their devices in need of a little more battery life. The pilot program is a direct outgrowth of Superstorm Sandy when AT&T provided free charging to storm victims who needed to connect with friends and loved ones.
AT&T began rolling out the solar-powered mobile charging units two months ago and has been rotating them through at least 20 different outdoor locations across the five boroughs through September. The units have quickly become a popular spot for New Yorkers to congregate and give their phones a charge.
