Microsoft Allowing Indie Devs to Publish Directly to Xbox One! Access to Xbox Live, Achievements + More?July 24, 2013 No Comments
It hasn’t been that long since we first heard Microsoft take back tons of their new Xbox One online and trading policies because of ‘feedback’. Now Microsoft is once again changing a few things when it comes to the Xbox One. This time around, the cries of indie developers have been heard and Microsoft will be allowing them to self publish on the Xbox One instead of having to piggyback on big publishers.
Microsoft’s full statement.
Our vision is that every person can be a creator. That every Xbox One can be used for development. That every game and experience can take advantage of all of the features of Xbox One and Xbox LIVE. This means self-publishing. This means Kinect, the cloud, achievements. This means great discoverability on Xbox LIVE. We’ll have more details on the program and the timeline at gamescom in August.
Indie Devs will have access to the following:
- Xbox One’s built-in cloud computing
- access to Xbox Live
This is VERY good news for Indie Devs but hopefully it doesn’t take away any great Xbox One features Microsoft had planned. Microsoft will detail this all at gamescom in August.
