Google & Microsoft Team Up Finally To Deliver A Proper YouTube App For Windows Phone

May 24, 2013 4 Comments

It’s been a fight to the death for warring companies Microsoft and Google, a war neither was particularly interested in fighting, but in the end proved to be a smart decision by Microsoft. As they stuck to their guns and declined to remove the updated YouTube app from the Windows  Phone  Store, finally, Google decided to play ball and cooperate with Microsoft bringing the app we have all longed for.  In a joint statement from Microsoft and Google, they write:

Microsoft and YouTube are working together to update the new YouTube for Windows Phone app to enable compliance with YouTube’s API terms of service, including enabling ads, in the coming weeks. Microsoft will replace the existing YouTube app in Windows Phone Store with the previous version during this time

Meaning simply in the next few weeks we will see an app that may include an ad or two, but will ultimately enable Windows phone users the rights and abilities granted by Google for just about every other OS.I’m thinking this was the outcome that Microsoft had planned on all along…..MBGW

Sidenote: As of now, the most recent version of YouTube has been removed for download.
