Microsoft’s Xbox 720 (Durango) to Take Over Your Cable? Kinect Enabled?April 10, 2013 2 Comments
We have seen the “Xbox 720″ codenamed Durango ‘leaked’ on the last issue of Xbox magazine late last year, we also have seen our fair share of rumors surface about the next Xbox (1,2,3,4,5,6). Recently, we even found out that Microsoft might be holding their grand Xbox 720 (Durango) announcement on May 21st 2013.
Now, TheVerge is reporting that Microsoft is setting up the ‘Xbox 720′ (Durango) as an always connected device that can take over your cable box. They state that this will work by the Xbox connecting to your cable box via HDMI and thus receiving all of its signal.
That way, you can view your TV fully but allowing Microsoft’s console to overlay a UI and features on top of an existing TV channel. Remember, Microsoft is set to sell its current Mediaroom IPTV business to Ericsson to fully invest in Xbox Entertainment.
Supposedly, Kinect won’t be left behind when it comes to taking over your cable. TheVerge also states that the Kinect will work with the TV feature. Even as much as being able to track your head so that when you turn, it can pause what you are watching.
Pretty crazy stuff, I can’t wait to see all of this in action soon!
