Windows Phone Going 1080P by End of Year? Support for Quad-Core & 5inch+ Devices?

April 9, 2013 1 Comment

Currently, Windows Phone 8 supports WVGA, WXGA, and 720p resolutions. TheVerge is reporting however that an update known as a General Distribution Release (GDR3) coming later this year will set the stage for bigger and better Windows Phone device. According to TheVerge, Sources familiar with Microsoft’s Windows Phone plans have let some secrets out of the bag. Via the  (GDR3) update, Windows Phone 8 devices will be able to support 1080P. If that isn’t enough, it will also support screens 5 inches and above.

The update is also supposed to set the stage for more powerful devices as well. The GDR3 update looks like it will also provide support for new Qualcomm processors, which opens the door for quad-core devices running Windows Phone.

With Windows Blue, GDR2 and now already plans for GDR3, it looks like this will be a very good year for Windows Phone.
