Microsoft Xbox Event in May? Xbox 720 Always On? (Durango)

April 8, 2013 1 Comment

Since the “Xbox 720″ codenamed Durango was ‘leaked’ on the last issue of Xbox magazine late last year, we have seen alot of rumors surface about the next Xbox (1,2,3,4,5,6).

Now, TheVerge is reporting that Microsoft is setting up the grand ‘Xbox 720′ announcement on May 21st, 2013.

Also something which has been rumored about the device is the fact that it will ALWAYS be on. That is right, the rumor is that the next Xbox will require you to always have an Internet connection present. To the point where Microsoft Studios creative director Adam Orth commented on the Always-on drama He asked why was there any drama and tweeted #dealwithit. That and the fact that Microsoft actually issued an apology stands as a good indication that there is something to that rumor that will stick.

We apologize for the inappropriate comments made by an employee on Twitter yesterday. This person is not a spokesperson for Microsoft, and his personal views do not reflect the customer centric approach we take to our products or how we would communicate directly with our loyal consumers.  We are very sorry if this offended anyone, however we have not made any announcements about our product roadmap, and have no further comment on this matter.

Hopefully we will get at least a bit more information about the new hardware before the big reveal.
