Microsoft Patents New Gesture Controlled Visual and Audio Searching for Mobile Phones

March 29, 2013 2 Comments

Microsoft has invented and patented two different gesture controlled ways to search on mobile phones (Windows Phone).

One is called ‘Tilt to Talk’ and the other “Point to Scan”.

In their concept, the device has a small camera at the very top of the phone and a mic at the very bottom. When tilted one way sharply, the phone initiates a search using a picture or scan “Point to Scan”. If pointed the other way, the phone begins to search using voice ‘Tilt to Talk’.

Microsoft’s patent application was originally filed in Q3 2011 so we may actually see this come to life soon (hopefully.. if ever).
