FM Radio Coming in Windows Phone 8 Update – Double Tap Wake Up for Lumia 920

March 26, 2013 3 Comments

Microsoft seems to be looking ahead to its next update for Windows Phone 8. TheVerge is reporting that the company is working on a General Distribution Release (GDR2) update for Windows Phone 8 that should release in the next couple of months.

TheVerge states that the update will include FM Radio which was a feature that was dear to Windows Phone 7 users but was lost in transition to WP8. FM Radio will be unlocked for Windows Phone but of course only handets like the Lumia 820 and 920 with FM Radio built in will have it activated.

Another feature is one that Nokia is working on to include with the above update. It is a feature that wakes the phone up from standby by double tapping the screen. This looks to be a feature that will be implemented on the Lumia 820 and 920 only.

Hopefully we will get more information soon about the update and all its goodies.
