The 2013 Nokia Rookie Award is granted to the best Rookies at the Burton US Open in Vail, Colorado. Working with the US Open judges, Nokia awarded a cash prize to the chosen young guns in Halfpipe and Slopestyle who demonstrated an outstanding performance, a winning attitude and the potential to go far. The winners personified the spirit of the Burton US Open by pushing their own personal limits and achieving outstanding results at the highest competitive level
In keeping with the Rookie spirit the intro artwork was originally drawn by Dana Bergstom who entered our Design, Film and Photograph competiton.
We filmed exclusively with Nokia Lumia 920′s, edited with Final Cut Pro 7 and did a small amount of color correction in Color. Our color correction process was to take out some saturation and balance the exposure and color levels.
The Awards Committee judged the award by looking at a rider’s TTR ranking and scores, progressive riding and how far the rider advanced through the competition. Only those riders that had not previously been awarded a podium finish at any of the 5 or 6 Star TTR World Snowboard Tour events were eligible.’
