Windows Phone 7.8 & 8 To Be Supported Until 2014

March 16, 2013 1 Comment

The Microsoft page detailing the support lifecycle of the Windows Phone 7 and 8 OS with the following statement:

“Microsoft will make updates available for the Operating System on your phone, including security updates, for a period of 18 months after the lifecycle start date. Distribution of the updates may be controlled by the mobile operator or the phone manufacturer from which you purchased your phone. Update availability will also vary by country, region, and hardware capabilities.” See table below:

This simply means, for all the spectators, that you are indeed set to receive update notifications on your Windows Phone until 2014 and on older hardware you will have upgrade to then take advantage of future major releases. Windows Phone 8 devices will see the next major version of Windows Phone, which will then kick off another support cycle..duh…MBGW
