The HTC HD7 Getting Windows Phone 7.8 Upgrade Anyway? (images)

Yesterday, we wrote an article surrounding the fact the HTC tweeted themselves that they had no plans to upgrade the HTC HD7 to Windows Phone 7.8.

Now it seems that was either a mistake or they weren’t sure ‘when’ it would arrive. Either way, one of our readers (marco), commented on the article stating that his HD7 was in fact updated to Windows Phone 7.8 with pictures to prove it.

last night at about 23:45 I received the notice of upgrade available for my device (always updated officially, the only change that the memory is 16GB instead of the one 8gb and I did two weeks ago) … I have finished charging the battery, connected to PC, sync with Zune … made two minor updates … and the third was to update the operating system. OFFICIAL .. Windows Phone 7.8 on my HTC HD7 … here send photos immediately with date and time stamped …

 

Anyone else getting the update for their HTC HD7?

    No update for HTC HD7 (T-Mobile) in Lithuania… and the “disconnect internet” trick doesn’t work either..

    I’m with 02 in the UK, I used windows phone hackers Seven Eighter and it was a breeze, my HD7 is now running 7.8

    Yeeey! I managed to upgrade my HD7 to 7.8 too.
    I wrote here yesterday in the comments that I didnt get the update yet, but in the meantime I managed to get it by using the old unplug the internet trick.

    I have an unlocked HD7 and I’m from Romania.
    The build numbers and firmware are identical to the ones in the photo above

    My brother has this phone. We’re from Honduras (Central America) and he does not have the update yet

    As far as I know (and this might be pure speculation) It seems that MS and HTC are releasing it by zones. Maybe they will just release it on certain zones only or maybe they are slowly releasing it worldwide but whatever the case, I believe that if there is a couple of phones with it then it’s just a matter of time before a new updated Custom ROM appears n__n… at least that’s what I hope (Because I bought the same phone hehe)
