Kik Messenger Currently Has No Plans For Windows Phone 8

January 20, 2013 2 Comments

Bad news for those who use Kik messenger on their Windows Phone 8 device. The current Kik team has no plans on updating the app for the new WP8 OS specifically. Keep in mind that the Windows Phone 7 app works just fine on the device, but is limited in features based off of the limitations of the Windows Phone 7 OS..

Charlotte, from the Kik Team replied with the following response:

“Hey there, Thanks for your message! We don’t have any immediate plans to develop a version of Kik for Windows Phone 8 – but you never know what the future may hold!

WPCentral has reported first that the good news in all this “is that Kik is not ruling out a Windows Phone 8 version in the future but if you were hoping to get an update any day now for the service, well, you will be disappointed.”

Sad, but lets just hope more apps regardless of how useful or (useless to some) make their way over to supporting this ever growing platform.. If you want to see change, please make some noise by contacting the KiK team  (http://kik.com/blog/), Twitter (@Kik), and Facebook(https://www.facebook.com/kikplaynice) That is all we can do, and it is our reasonable service…MBGW
