CES 2013: Did Microsoft Just Tease the Xbox 720 Codename ‘Durango’? (IllumiRoom) – videoJanuary 14, 2013 1 Comment
We have heard and seen tons of rumors all circling around the Xbox 720 (Durango). Now however it seems Microsoft is doing all the info sharing at CES this year. Even though they didn’t have a booth or a keynote, they seem to be jumping on stage any chance they get. Check out this video demo they showed off with Samsung featuring their new project IllumiRoom.
IllumiRoom is a proof-of-concept Microsoft Research project designed to push the boundary of living room immersive entertainment by blending our virtual and physical worlds with projected visualizations. The effects in the video are rendered in real time and are captured live — not special effects added in post processing.
This looks alot like what has been rumored for Xbox 720 and the second coming of Kinect. As far as this actually being available for Fall of 2013, Microsoft notes that the demo shown was” is exactly what appeared in our lab without any special effects being added,”
Could this be what powers the Xbox 720? I honestly think so and I can’t wait to see more.
