Nokia’s Stephen Elop: Planning “Exciting Things with Verizon” – 920 Variant?December 18, 2012 1 Comment
With Nokia’s only Windows Phone ‘Hero’ smartphone being sold only through AT&T in the US. Stephen Elop is now teasing another flagship device via Verizon.
Speaking to CNET, Elop has stated that they are “pleased to have just restarted our relationship with Verizon. We are planning a lot of exciting things with Verizon as well.”
There might be another similar hero exercise with a different operator. In this particular moment, the opportunity with the Lumia 920 presented well with AT&T. And we’re pleased to have just restarted our relationship with Verizon. We are planning a lot of exciting things with Verizon as well.
Can this mean that a Lumia 920 variant is coming to the US? It can also very well mean perhaps that after the dust clears on the Lumia 920, Nokia’s next flagship device will be on Verizon instead of AT&T.
Hopefully, Nokia will ramp up manufacturing and change their strategy a bit to include several ‘Hero” devices being sold at the same time on different carriers in the US.
The Nokia CEO also briefly discussed software as the company is on the road to make even more software available for IOS and Android. He stated that “We’ve just begun our efforts on iOS”, referring to the HERE maps for IOS.
