Modern Combat 4 by Gameloft released on iOS, with Windows Phone 8 to follow shortly…hopefully

December 8, 2012 2 Comments

For those whose dwelling place is underneath a rock, Gameloft, maker of some of the best mobile titles available recently announced its support for the Windows Phone 8 platform when it commissioned 12 highly anticipated games to be ported over to Windows Phone. That list includes The Dark Knight Rises, Asphalt 7:Heat  and NOVA 3, just to name a few. Recently, Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour(also in the list) was released to iOS users with Android users to follow shortly. Below is the amazingly brilliant launch trailer. Check it out!:

Typically in olden Windows Phone 7 days(such a long time ago)with any new game coming over to the platform we should expect a 6-12 month delay due to the fact that porting was limited and due to the fact that the versions we receive are Xbox Live enabled for both multiplayer and achievements. But, now that Windows Phone 8 has launched Rovio made the brilliant first move of launching their Angry Birds: Star Wars the exact same day as other platforms signifying that indeed, our platform is seen across the industry as(at the least) equal. Lets be real clear. We didn’t expect to see Modern Combat 4 on December 6th, the launch day for iOS, but we did expect to see at least some indication that it is indeed being worked on and will release soon with the Android version. None of Gameloft’s promotional information for the game gives the slightest reason to believe that the game was ever coming to the platform, as every last trailer(check one above) say “Coming Soon” but doesn’t specify Windows Phone. To add insult to injury, after numerous comments/question’s from others and even reaching out to the company, no one seems to be even aware of a WP8 version. We know that these games take months and months to perfect and port so we can only hope that their announced games list will be coming sooner than later. We just ask that Gameloft be a little more clearer on their launch dates and at least acknowledge the Windows Phone 8 existing ..MBGW
