Xbox 720 (Durango) Revealed? (Images and Specs)

The final issue of Xbox World magazine is due in December but before they say farewell, they have dropped a bombshell. It is supposedly all the information on Xbox 720 (durango) the next generation of Xbox.

The 8 page feature article states the following:

uses Blu-ray discs
second-generation Kinect
directional audio
a new “innovative controller”
TV inputs and outputs
four-core chipset (with 16 logical cores)
8 GB of RAM

They also state that the next Xbox will be called just that, Xbox.

We should be seeing the console debut at the next E3

8GB of RAM is just “alright” by today standarts. should put more to be future-proof. Also I am quite sure it could be shared beetwen CPU and GPU. But lol, that is rumors anyway.

I knew it was bullshit as soon as I saw “a new innovative controller”. Windows 8 has the drivers for the current Xbox 360 controller built into the OS. The new Xbox is being designed around Windows 8 (would illogical to assume otherwise), so I seriously doubt the controller is going to be changing at all, aside from maybe a few cosmetic changes. Besides why the hell would they need to change the controller? They have a working controller now, with finalized drivers, that works for all gamepad needs; Kinect is for everything else. Remember, “you ARE the controller!” MS has absolutely zero use for another controller interface. Also, I would be inclined to believe that MS would remove physical drives completely, before I believed they are using a BD-R player. And “positional audio”?? You mean…. multi-channel SURROUND SOUND?! From SEVERAL SPEAKERS…at ONCE?! Yeah, exactly, who gives a shit, we’ve seen this on consoles for the last 10 years.
I like the look of the box, even though I know it’s a clever hoax. It just doesn’t fit in with the current Microsoft design aesthetic for Windows 8. The new Xbox will probably look like a giant Nokia Lumia 920.

Justin, What are you talking about? Please only talk about what you know about. I can’t even finish your little fantasy post. I had to stop at ” so I seriously doubt the controller is going to be changing at all”. What system has ever come out with the old controllers? I’ll tell you ZERO. Expect this new Xbox to kill your favorite Sony made PS4 or what ever they’ll call it. Just the fact that they gave Microsoft the Blu Ray player to put in is a sign the their not really going to compete for long other wise why would you give away one of your best Sony only hardwares?

Comparison. PS4 vs Xbox 720? Ive always preferred Xbox over Ps. But Xbox is fucking up. Ill take the PS4 this time over the Xbox’s 720 fucking illuminati room center thing they have coming out.
