Rumor: Verizon’s Windows Phone 8 Handsets Could Be Delayed or Canceled

October 19, 2012 1 Comment

While AT&T and T-Mobile have already announced their plans for the availability of the upcoming Windows Phone 8 devices Verizon has been oddly quiet on the matter. Rumors are that they could be delayed or even canceled! Although the devices have already been cleared by the FCC Verizon and Microsoft appear to be at odds over the inclusion of “remote management” software in these devices.

“Verizon requires for all smartphones on its network to be opened to remote management, yet Microsoft is reportedly refusing to provide the carrier with this feature at the moment.”

Unless both sides can come together with an acceptable solution consumers on the nation’s largest carrier will continue to face a line-up that only has the HTC Trophy available for Windows Phone fans. I hope that they can work this out and soon. I love Verizon’s network and am looking forward to devices like the Lumia 920 and the HTC Windows Phone 8x.

This would be devastating for MS and WP8. Not having a solid presence on VZW is what hindered WP7.
