Concept Art: Windows Phone 8 Notification Center

September 28, 2012 6 Comments

Here is a pretty interesting concept for a Windows Phone 8 notification center. This is the first concept of this feature I have seen that 100% goes with the idea behind tiles in Windows Phone. It doesn’t disrupt the flow but looks like it would get the job done.

Just like a normal tile it will rotate to how more notifications (as shown in the above gif); when double tapped as it is when launching an app , it expands showing more a more detailed notification center as shown below.

What do you guys think?

Sounds interesting. A place where you can get a quick glance of all the notifications waiting for you.

Interesting; It would be even better if was the “double wide” but was only half as tall. The same height as the smallest tile. It takes up too much space this way since most people would probably pin it to the top of the screen. But it’s a great idea. This is probably my biggest complaint against WP; its must get a notification center!

Just a “notification hub” similar to call history or the me tile or whatever would be more than enough. Just a list of your notifications would make everyone happy I think.

Problem with the tile is that you have to go to start screen all the time..
If you are in an app it gets annoying..
Left and right swipes are already used in an app
Swipe from top can help but this is same as other OSes
