The Microsoft Courier Resurrected for Windows 8 (Project Austin)

September 22, 2012 2 Comments

A project by Microsoft a few years back showed off what a digital notebook should be, it was called the Microsoft Courier.

The tablet itself never saw the light of day but the idea of it was imprinted in the minds of techies everywhere. Even today you can see bits and pieces of the Courier in an iPad app (FiftyThree’s Paper for iPad), which was created by ex members of the courier team.

Now with Windows 8 fast approaching, it looks like the idea is alive and well in a project called  ‘Austin’ which is an app for Windows 8. You use the app by creating book and journals that your write, draw and put pictures in.

Can’t wait to dive into this app once it is made available.

    That’s actually really nice.

I’m a fan of the Paper app by 53 for the iPad so this looks WAY awesome and is very encouraging; especially if it works as well as the video indicates. Possibly better than Paper! Can’t wait for Win8 and W8P!
