Shazam Adds TV Tagging to its List of Services – Touts 250 Million Users
September 18, 2012 1 CommentYesterday, Shazam announced that it would be adding TV tagging to its current list of features on its service. In addition to touting 250 million users, they stated that soon enough (pending update for WP) you will be able to tag TV shows and get information about it.
Now when you open Shazam you can tag anything you’re watching on TV and see music from that show, information from IMDB about cast and crew, trivia, “celebrity buzz” (a serving of aggregated tabloid headlines), the latest tweets about the show, and a button to pre-load a tweet with the correct hashtag for the show you’re watching. Tagging sporting events even pops up statistics and a box score inside the app. Shazam has a room full of servers watching 160 channels in the US (which leaves out most local-only channels) and fingerprinting content as it airs – TheVerge
This is an addition to the features the app already has like

- Watch videos, concerts and artist clips on YouTube
- Learn the lyrics you thought you knew
- Read album reviews and artist biographies
- Get Music Recommendations to discover similar music
- Pin Shazam’s live tile to your start screen
- Leave and return to the same place with fast app switching
You can download the app on the Windows Phone store for free
App Info:
NEW: Mango OS support for live tiles and fast app switching. Tag straight from your home screen
