More Than Just a Start Screen? Microsoft Asks What WP8 Features You Want on 7.8…September 8, 2012 2 Comments
A lot was made about how current handsets will not upgrade to Windows Phone 8. Instead they will be upgraded to Windows Phone 7.8 which brings the new start screen. I even stated that too much was being made of it and regular consumers would just be happy to get any update.
Now it looks like Microsoft is back tracking a bit and looking to add a few more non-hardware specific features.
On the User Voice page, a WP admin wrote:
As you know, Windows Phone 8 is a generational shift in technology, which means that it will not run on existing hardware.
BUT we care deeply about our existing customers and would like to know SPECIFICALLY what features you would like to see on 7.8 and vote INDIVIDUALLY for the one that you want most (vs. one large grab bag of features).
Take a look at the posting here
It looks like we will be seeing at least a few more features sneak into the 7.8 update. Hopefully it won’t push back the delivery date too far (like we knew what it was in the first place).
