Windows Phone 8: Special Update Program for Enthusiasts?

August 28, 2012 No Comments

Due to carriers, upgrades can be a pain when it comes to which handsets get what and when. It looks like Microsoft has a quick fix in mind for those of us that are enthusiastically passionate about the platform.

The site Windows Phone Italy is claiming that a program will be taking shape to help Windows Phone enthusiasts get their hands on updates as soon as they are available, not when carriers decide it is ok.

They uncovered a bit of information on how this might work…

  • Only Windows Phone 8 devices will be supported
  • You will use Microsoft Account to login
  • Users can get updates before their carrier has released them (or plans to in some case)
  • It’s a “pull” method

No word as to how you even apply for this program and remember this is not confirmed by any stretch of the imagination. I do however can really see this coming to life shortly after the Windows Phone 8 launch.
