Lenovo: RT Tablets Will Be Priced Up To $300 Cheaper Than Windows 8

August 17, 2012 1 Comment

With Windows 8 and all the new hardware coming soon, the one big question mark left is how much is it going to cost. We posted about a rumor previously that stated that the Microsoft Surface RT would be priced at $200. Now to add fuel to that fire is the President of North America and Senior Vice President of Lenovo Group , David Schmoock who stated that Lenovo will play in aggressive pricing on the Windows RT front.

He told Bloomberg:

“RT will play in consumer and retail at very aggressive price points,”he said. “It will do well but it’s going to be more of a consumer price point play to begin with,”

He said that Windows 8 would retail starting at $600 – $700 and that RT would be $200 – $300 less than that. With that said, Lenovo RT tablets might be priced as low as $300 making it possible that Microsoft may in fact be able to pull off a Surface pricing of $200.

Nice fantasy; but I seriously doubt that the Lenovo Yoga is going that cheap in either the RT or X86 variants

One thing I will say though, the amount of different models coming out soon is going to make it difficult to choose this fall
