Microsoft Patent: Xbox 720 to be Scalable Console, Run Apps Simultaneously
July 11, 2012 1 CommentMore proof of a scalable next generation Xbox has popped up as a Microsoft Patent which was filed in 2010.
The patent shows the hardware having the ability to scale up or down.
The documents state…
”versions of a multimedia computer system architecture… which satisfy quality of service (QoS) guarantees for multimedia applications such as game applications while allowing platform resources, hardware resources in particular, to scale up or down over time.”
The patent also shows that compared to how the Xbox 360 is set up now, this will use multiple CPU/GPU’s that will allow the Xbox ‘OS” and applications to run independently and at the same time. So we will be able to perhaps jump on Twitter or see sports scores from ESPN while playing the latest Halo game without any interruptions.
Again, this looks alot like the leak we saw back in June but only time will tell if this is something that is actually going to be available in 2013 when the next Xbox launches.
