Microsoft: We Will Not Build Our Own Windows Phones

It is only natural for folks to wonder if Microsoft will be developing its own hardware for Windows Phone since the Microsoft Surface announcement recently. Even concept art reflecting Microsoft built Windows Phone 8 devices are beginning to make their way onto the Internet.

InformationWeek sat down with Greg Sullivan, senior marketing manager for Windows Phone and asked him the question that is stirring up on everyone’s mind. They asked him if Microsoft planned to apply the Surface strategy to the smartphone market. In one short answer Greg replied

“No, we do not.”

“We have a strong ecosystem of partners that we are very satisfied with,”

It’s lists of manufacturers include HTC, Nokia, Samsung, and Huawei. Should Microsoft build its own Windows Phone?
