Reinstaller: Gets Big Update (Install All Your Previously Downloaded Apps Automatically)

May 27, 2012 1 Comment

Reinstaller for Windows Phone has hit V1.5 and it comes with a new redesigned look and new features.

– New main screen
– Selection by category/apps/games
– Reports and can exclude trial apps
– Can run under lock screen and prevent screen timeout
– Fixed app count, duplicate entries and few other bugs

Did you have to reset your device recently or just bought a brand new device? Nervous now about having to manually install all your old apps one by one? A new app called Reinstaller looks to change all that as it automatically retrieves all of your previous downloads automatically.

How does it work?
When you tap on the Connect button, Reinstaller prompts you to login to https://www.windowsphone.com and then scans the website for all the apps that you have ever installed on your Windows Phone.

The Install page displays list of all the apps fetched in the Connect step. When you start the installation, Reinstaller invokes the Marketplace tasks for installing the apps one by one as that’s the *ONLY* way to do it on the current WP release.

On the prompts, tap on the Yes button to start the installation, No to skip the current app and Stop to come back to the main screen. This confirmation screen helps by preventing seemingly endless prompts for app installs.

NOTE: Your purchases should get revalidated in the process, if any, by the Marketplace.

What it doesn’t do?
– Restore saved app data and game stats
– Access any other information apart from the list of apps
– Access/collect/send any personally identifiable information to anyone
– Keep you logged on to windowsphone.com after the app has exited
– Transfer apps/games purchases to another Live account

Info Info:
Recently reset or wiped your phone? Or, do you have a new handset and want to get back the apps you loved? Reinstaller enables you to do it from the phone itself and cuts short the time/efforts you’d waste doing it using Marketplace app or the Web Marketplace.

Reinstaller presents a list of all the apps that are associated with your Live account, and allow you to install all or just some of them.

Tap on the Connect button, key in credentials and watch it fetch the list of apps. Then tap on the Install button to review the list of app and start installations – it’s really that simple. Using the jump list and check boxes, you can install the apps you need.
