Skype App Will No Longer be Available on Lumia 610May 22, 2012 5 Comments
The Skype app needs 512MB to run but when Nokia announced the Lumia 610 running 256MB, Nokia urged that the app ran just fine. Now it seems that Nokia has had a change of heart as our friends over at welovewp.hk in Hong Kong have posted a message from Nokia China.
Nokia attaches great importance to the introduction of the user experience of products and services, even if Skype on Nokia Lumia 610 Windows Phone version can be used, but after extensive testing, we found does not guarantee to the user experience of Nokia and Skype expected levels. Therefore we do not recommend users to use Skype on Nokia Lumia 610. Nokia Lumia 610 users will not be able to in the future Windows Phone “market” Download Skype Windows Phone version. But Skype Windows Phone version will continue to be available to other users for download.
I guess the Skype team was right all along but they are still working on improving the app so it might work on 256MB devices one day.
(Note: this does not effect any other Lumia devices)
Imagine talking to friends, family, and colleagues anywhere in the world, and seeing them as if they’re in the same room. That’s Skype.
