Nokia to Launch Tablets and Hybrid Smart Mobile Devices – Happy with Windows PhoneMay 3, 2012 4 Comments
Nokia Chairman Jorma Ollila has let the cat out of the bag and told Financial Times that Nokia will launch a range of tablets and hybrid smart mobile devices.
Tablets are an important one, so that is being looked into, and there will be different hybrids, different form factors [handset designs] in the future.
We already knew about the tablets since Nokia had already confirmed it, but Hybrids have never been mentioned before. He also went on to say that the company is very happy with the Windows Phone platform.
“[I am] happy with what is happening. When you have such strong competitors in the marketplace it will take a bit of time but things are going well,” he said.
“Four years from mid-2008 to today the returns have not been where they should have been. The company saw it and it was broadly accepted but the software capability and particularly the platform software know how was not there.
If the tablet are anything like the concept art we have seen in the past… I am all in (1,2,3). Hybrids can mean that Nokia is also looking to get into making Windows Phones that have screens larger than 5 inches. Looking at the Lumia 900 only makes me even more excited about the future of Nokia and Windows Phone.
