Skype Team on App Needing 512MB Memory: “Plan to Resolve Issues and Build New Features on an Ongoing Basis”
April 24, 2012 2 CommentsWhen we announced Skype being available out of beta recently, we noticed that it required 512MB of memory. This by itself excludes it from being available for the Lumia 610 and any other lower end devices. Skype is aware of this and they have sent wpcentral an explanation as to why this is.
“As outlined in our Skype Garage blog, we are aware of various issues on the Skype for Windows Phone app, including minimum memory support requirement. This is our first version of the Skype for Windows Phone app. To ensure our customers have the best Skype experience possible today, the Skype for Windows Phone app currently requires devices with Windows Phone 7.5 and higher 512 MB of memory. We’re invest (sic) in improving the Skype for Windows Phone app to deliver a great experience and plan to resolve issues and build new features on an ongoing basis.”
So there you have it, sounds like the app is technically out of Beta but the team is continuing to improve the app and know that there are alot of holes to cover up. Till then , you can enjoy the app on any ‘current’ Windows Phone today.
