The ChevronWP7 Labs ‘Experiment’ is Over – Users to Get Free Upgrade to App HubApril 13, 2012 No Comments
Back in January, the ChevronWP7 Labs has sold out of unlock tokens for the homebrew community. They sold at total of 10,000 tokens at $9 a piece in only 2 months. Back then it was rumored that it was the end of the line for them and they would not restock their stockpile of tokens. Fast forward to today, the Chevron team as announced via their site that it is the end of the line for the :experiment’. They continue to say that their goal was to try and figure out 2 things.
- “determine if we could supercharge the Windows Phone beginner/hobbyist community by removing the initial cost barrier (i.e. App Hub membership.)”
- “ to convert potential developers into published developers”
The Chevron team says that the first part was a success while the 2nd part of their experiment did not work out as well as they planned. Doesn’t look like to many people that purchased the toiens continued on to be published developers.
Good news is that folks who are existing paying members of ChevronWP7 Labs will get a chance to upgrade to an official AppHub account for free.
