IDC: 250,000 Windows Phones Sold in Russia Already – Overtake iPhone This QuarterMarch 2, 2012 2 Comments
We have great news from Russia for the Windows Phone camp as the IDC has published so mobile marketshare results. 250,000 Windows Phones were sold between September 2011 and February 2012. Which places Windows Phone in the position of holding 14% of the marketshare in 2012 and surpassing the iPhone at 9%.
This push in Windows Phone sales has been lead by Nokia which landed in Russia in December.
Simon Baker, an analyst at the IDC said:
Today’s sales results of a new mobile platform from Microsoft allows one to predict that in the first quarter of 2012 Windows Phone is likely to be able to surpass the number of iOS smartphones sold in Russia
Some other random facts are:
- 98% of Windows Phone users in Russia are satisfied and 94% willing to recommend it to friends.
- 59% of buyers were women
