Brandon Watson Squashes Latest Eldar Rants About WP7 Apps Being Incompatible with Windows Phone 8January 30, 2012 1 Comment
Talks of Windows Phone 8 (Apollo) getting a Windows 8 kernel is a rumor that more and more is beginning to look like its true.
Eldar Murtazin however has taken it one step further and has began the rumor that current Windows Phone apps would be incompatible with the next version of Windows Phone (Windows Phone 8/ Apollo). He suggests that Windows Phone will be moving towards HTMLs and DirectX based apps and forgetting Silverlight and XNA.
Eldar Murtazin tweeted:
WP8 os isnt compatible with wp7 on app level (u need to rewrite all apps). Thats another os core with metro ui…
However this time around, Brandon Watson squashed the rumor before it got any legs under it as he tweeted…
@eldarmurtazin Rewatch Mix11 keynote. We were pretty clear on this. Any app built today will run on next major Windows Phone version.
Well that was that and its just another Eldar rumor put to rest. It would be an insane notion that Microsoft would let 60,000+ apps fall by the waist side as they try to recover ground on the mobile front.
