Confirmed? Microsoft to Continue Publishing Xbox Live Games on Other Platforms

January 21, 2012 1 Comment

When Microsoft published Kinectimals to the IOS app store, we here at WP7connect were furious. After awhile we began to realize that maybe it wasn’t such a bad thing as it could quite possible gain more users to the Windows Phone platform in the long run. Either way, finally Microsoft has stepped in and commented on the situation.

Speaking to Inside Mobile Apps, a Microsoft spokesperson said…

While the Xbox Live experiences and games always work best on the Windows platform, we understand that some Xbox fans may be using other types of devices. To satisfy that need, we are working to extend a few of our Xbox experiences and titles to other platforms.

It does fill a need that Xbox needs to be present more in the mobile world in general. Let’s hope it also helps fuel Windows Phone sales in the future as well. I believe as long as they keep achievements to Microsoft platforms, we will be ok.

this could be great a move.
For example…Say I buy Kinectimals on iPhone, then later get a WP7, it should give me the option to auto download Kinectimals for free to my WP7 (as i’ve already purchased it once), that could give users more reason to switch from iOS to WP7 as at least they will get to keep some of their games.
