January 20, 2012 No Comments

We all knew that with the Microsoft/Nokia deal also came the fact that Microsoft will be using Nokia for its mapping services. However, we did not know that Nokia’s branding was going to be on Bing maps. More importantly it will be placed on competing devices as well like Blackberry which is set to begin using Bing Maps.

“You’ll starting seeing the word ‘Nokia’ on a map that you get from Microsoft properties over a period of time,” Elop explained to Pocket-lint in an interview behind closed doors at CES in Las Vegas. “Even if you are on a BlackBerry device, who recently said they were going to start using Bing Maps.”

This is a bold statement by Nokia and a smart move all around. I am sure that Blackberry is not too thrilled about having a competing manufactured plastered all over their phones.
