More Xbox Live Games Headed to IOS and Android?January 6, 2012 No Comments
Microsoft is looking for a Software Development Engineer for Xbox Live. Whoever lands the job will be working on bringing the full experience of Xbox Live to Windows Phone, IOS and other mobile platforms.
As a software development engineer on the team, you will have the opportunity to help define and design the experiences for the project, you will get to work with a team of energetic and talented developers, and you will have the luxury to work with all sorts of mobile devices to create the official Xbox LIVE mobile experiences.
What does this job posting mean? What does Xbox Live really mean? Everyone is speculating that this equals Xbox Live games heading to IOS but I dont think this is the whole story. Xbox Live could mean so much more and at the same time so much less.
This could mean that Xbox Live companion could be making its way to other mobile platforms. It could mean that they are working on adding more functionality to the Xbox Live app. It could even mean that with Kinectimals being ported over to IOS, Microsoft is working on making Xbox Live games that are directly connected to Xbox 360 games more available to everyone.
I ranted over Kinectimals being ported to IOS late last year and I still feel the same disgust over anything XBL being published on competing mobile devices. However, would applying Xbox Live to IOS go against Windows Phone? or would it propel Xbox Live so much higher that it will help Windows Phone out in the long run?
I honestly hope that Microsoft knows what their doing. Xbox took over on the console front by dominating exclusives and building Xbox Live. Shouldn’t what worked for Xbox work for Windows Phone?
Let me know what you think?
